In memory of Robert “Bob” Prahm

1943 – Robert “Bob” Prahm 2017

Bob Prahm was born on July 9, 1943 in Slayton, Minnesota to Elmer and Jennie Swart Prahm.  He grew up in Slayton and attended Slayton High School.  Following school Bob worked with his father, Elmer doing custom feed grinding.  On November 19, 1966 he and Dorothy Anderson were married at Faith Lutheran Church in Avoca, MN.  Following their marriage they made their home in Slayton where Bob continued working with his father.  He later worked for James Larson farms in rural Slayton.  In 1988 Bob went to work for Hegstad Equipment in Slayton.  He retired in 2009 but retirement did not last long soon Bob found himself working at Key Largo on Lake Shetek.  Bob once again retired in 2016.  Due to failing health Bob moved to Our House Hospice Home in Slayton on February 15, 2017 and passed away there on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the age of 73.  Bob was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Avoca, MN where he served on the church council.  He was a member of the Slayton Driftbreakers Snowmobile Club from 1969 until 1987. Bob also served on the Keeley Island Association.  Bob enjoyed spending time with family, stock car races, snowmobiling, woodworking and visiting with friends.  Bob was the go to guy if you needed something fixed.     

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Prahm of Slayton, MN, one son, Robert Prahm and his wife, Joyce of Mankato, MN, one granddaughter, Katelyn Prahm, two step-grandsons, Dylan Welling, and Austin Welling; and four siblings, Gwen Hartlep of Fulda, MN, Willard Prahm and his wife Jane, of Shakopee, MN, Virginia Payne of Minneapolis, MN, and Leroy Prahm of Fulda, MN.  He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Kathleen Prahm, brother, Elmer Prahm Jr., two brothers-in-law, Doug Hartlep, and William Payne, one sister-in-law, Ruth Prahm, two nephews, Tim and Mark Hartlep and one infant niece, Sonya Payne.

Memorial Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ted Kunze officiating.  The organist is Sherri Isder.  The honorary pallbearers are his 11 nieces and nephews.  A private interment will be at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN.
