An air compressor exploded in a small building on a farm rented by Emil Pollack on Monday evening. Mr. Pollack had just entered the building when the explosion took place. He was taken to the hospital where three pieces of wood (about 1” x 1” x 3”) were removed from his skull and his clothing on the left side of his body were shredded. The compressor went up through the roof leaving a large hole.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mixell, with their three boys, Todd, Terry, and Marty, have recently take over the Edward’s Apco Station.

Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Messenger announce the marriage of their daughter, Patricia, to Darwin Haberman, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Haberman on April 15, 1967.
The marriage of Miss Geneil Cumming and Mr. Douglas Kopischke was solemnized on March 18th at the Mapleton United Church with Rev. Edward Robinson officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Roland Gertjejensen are the parents of a baby girl, Wendy Jo, born April 12th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Louis Coburn and Mr. and Mrs. Abe Gertjejansen.
Mr. and Mrs. George W. Johnson announce the birth of twin boys, Darrin and Daniel, on April 13th.
Mrs. Anna Haberman celebrates 80th birthday.
Tuberculosis checkups will begin in Murray County school May 1, 2, and 10. Fulda schools are schedule for May 2nd.
Fulda C & C to hold Employee Night at their May 4th meeting. Speaker for the evening will be Miss Anita B. Schartz, Field Instructor in Merchandising for the State Department of Education who will present a program on shoplifting and it’s warning signs.

Wood Duck Crossing signs are being put up in Fulda by Les Beeck, Fulda city employee, in preparation for the Spring hatching.
Fulda students compete in Spelling Bee on April 25th at the Lake Wilson Elementary School.
The Fulda Public School Board of Education accepted Mr. Fred Troendle’s letter of resignation who has taken a position in St. Charles, MN.
According to Superintendent Paul Wandersee, the Community Education Department is looking for a person or two to organize summer recreation and plan classes.
Scott Kuehl and Lynn Olsem both came home from the State Speech meet with medals.
Bill and Terry Crowley are proud to announce the birth of their daughter,
Tracee Ann born April 4th. Grandparents include Kathryn Crowley and Willard and Hazel Hays.
Bob and Vicki Sandhurst are proud to announce the arrival of Kimberly Joe born April 23rd. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Harris Swan, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Griffin and Mr.a nd Mrs. Vince Sandhurst.
Mr. and Mrs. Francis Knott will be honored on the occasion of their 50th Anniversary with an open house on Sunday.

Raymond F. Nelson passed away on April 20th after a brief illness at the age of 82 years old.
Vernon R. Mitchell passed away at the age of 43 years old with funeral services held on April 17th in Fulda.
Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn Nursing Home this month are Elsie McReynolds, Leona Ramerth, and Pearl Lidtke.

Stacey Olsem selected as 1997 Miss Fulda. Her Royal court includes Selina Ruesch, Princess, Ann Schwab, Princess, Tammy Peteson, Little Miss Fulda and Danyel Schweigert, Little Miss Princess.
The Fulda School Board has asked the administration to eliminate $80,000 from their budget for the 1997-98 school year. Some of the cuts proposed were the full time social worker position, the counselor position, 10 days off the band program, elimination of three sixth hour teacher assignments, the library aide position, and travel expenses.
Fulda City Council looks into weather channel for the cable system.
The Fulda Fire Department was called to the Mike Sauer residence Monday evening to investigate a furnace malfunction. Upon arrival they found that the home had been filled with carbon monoxide. The family was immediately removed from the home.
Fulda Community Players presented “The Music Man” this past weekend under the direction of Wilma Lindquist and Margaret Popp.
Laura Kremer and Jodie Joens tied for fifth place in Dramatic Duos at the State Speech Contest.

Joyce Hennager passed away April 6th at the age of 65 years old.
Bridget Bockenstedt passed away on April 15th at the age of 96 years old.
