April 23rd through the 29th is National Volunteer Week and Annette Kremer, Activities Director at Maple Lawn Senior Care Center, is very grateful for the volunteers who comprise the Grateful Grannies. These ladies formed their group about twelve years ago when there was a need for more volunteers at Mapleview Estates and Maplewood Court.
Several area ladies are part of the Grateful Grannies including Ardyce Schreiber, Pat Hart, Gail Gruis, Donna Lenards, Shirley Lewis, Mary Ahlers, Elaine Kirsch, and Shirley McNeil. When asked how they chose their group’s name, Elaine Kirsch replied, “We were all grandmas and are still able to help, and we are grateful for what we have in our lives and what we can offer to others.”
