1921-MALCOLM GREENFIELD-2017
Malcolm W. Greenfield, age 95, died on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Centra Hospice at the Guggenheimer Nursing Home in Lynchberg, VA. He was born July 26, 1921 in Balaton, MN, to Henry and Florence Greenfield. He attended school in Balaton until 8th grade and then worked for local farmers. Mal joined the Navy in 1941 and settled in Miami, Florida, after being discharged. For over 40 years he worked in construction of the first high rise hotels in Miami Beach, then malls, hospitals and roads. He was united in marriage to Jean Hedricks, they later divorced. He loved spending time with his family, fishing and traveling to most of the National Parks.
Survivors include two daughters, Deb Greenfield, Lynchberg, VA; Susan Greenfield, Conway, SC; one sister, Karen (Daryll) Ommen of Fulda, MN; four brothers, Robert Greenfield of Sumner, WA; Harvey (Rosie) Greenfield of Rapid City, SD; Dean Greenfield of Hills, MN; Alan (Jeanie) Greenfield of Fulda, MN.
He was preceded in death by his son, Rick, his parents, three brothers, four sisters, and his special friend, Helen Tompkins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
