Monday night’s Fulda High School Choral Concert, presented under the them Sleep and Dreams, began with the Raider Serenaders performing The Longest Time by Billy Joel and Evermore, from the 2017 film Beauty and the Beast. Evermore featured vocal soloist Jason Van Dyke and piano accompanist Claire Westra.
The Senior High Choir performed a Medley from the 1991 film “Beauty and the Beast” including Be Our Guest, Belle, Something There (featuring Rachael Ethridge and Jason Van Dyke in a vocal duet), Gaston, The Mob Song, and Beauty and the Beast (Tale as Old as Time).
During their second set of the evening, the Senior High Choir sang Sinner Man, a traditional spiritual arranged by Roger Emerson, Here I am Lord, by Daniel L. Schutte, and The River of Dreams by Billy Joel.
The Underclass Girls Choir sang The River Sleeps Beneath the Sky. This number was accompanied by pianist Jason Van Dyke.
Fulda’s High School Men’s Chorus sang Bobby Darin’s Dream Lover.
Sam Cheadle performed The Music of the Night, from the 1984 musical “The Phantom of the Opera”.
The Junior High Choir sang four musical numbers including The Papaya Song, Yonder Come Day, Shoshone Love Song and That’s Not My Name.
Fulda High School music teacher Matt Saxman announced that Claire Westra had been chosen by her peers to receive the National Chorale Award and that Jason Van Dyke had also been chosen by his peers to receive the Fulda High School Choir Directors Award.
Twenty graduating seniors were recognized. They are: Kendall Clarke, Katy Hakeneis, Bailey Onken, Randi Tiesler, Claire Westra, Leandra Cannon, Kyla Fuerstenberg, Savannah Klosterman, Lyndsay Lang, Amanda Postma, Logan VandenBosch, Bailey Wagner, Courtney Zins, Kenny Hillesheim, Aron Hulstein, Jarred Jans, Seth Jones, Kade Clarke, Jason Van Dyke and Daniel Walther.
