Jerry’s Jottings

  1. The crops are looking good with the corn standing five to six inches and the beans at two inches. The above normal temperatures for the last five days have a few folks suffering some. The promise of rain is always just around the corner.

I have been absent for several weeks with a few medical problems that shut me down two weekends in a row. The first was at Avera in Sioux Falls with a cracked neck and some pinched nerves. The next Friday, while up north I was hauled to Sanford Emergency in Bemidji with  an ambulance ride to the VA in Sioux Falls. It was  a few more problems to add to the list. So I’m on the mend again and this most recent weekend I was home.  I received very good care at all three. The surprise for me was the rooms at the VA. My last stay there was for knee replacement six or seven years ago and there patient rooms were like what you would expect in an institution. They have made some huge changes. There remodeling now has large rooms with single occupancy and all the equipment that you need. I rate the VA as good or better than the rest. Plus the food was good and the bed was great.

My garden is planted and has the future offering of good eating. I’m a little behind with the flowers. Some are sitting in there little pots waiting to be planted. I’m always reminded of perennials that once planted,  they just keep doing there thing year after year with just a small amount of help.
