Murray County Commissioners Ducks Unlimited purchase land in Iona Township

Murray County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, June 20 with an agenda that carried into the afternoon. Heidi Winter, auditor/treasuer, presented the warrants for payment. All were approved except for a payment to L & S Electric, Inc. which was held until the automatic solar system was working at the government center.

Howard Konkol reported on the Highway 30 project and the relocation of the county tile. A permit is needed to bore under the road and a security bond is needed. He will inform the landowners of possible added expense to the system. One petition was granted for ditch repair  on County Ditch 54 Section 11 Iona Township.

Shelly Lewis and Craig Christensen reported the quarterly update of the Soil and Water District. They have also been researching the buffer strips in the county and said Murray County is 61-80 percent compliant. The 16.5 foot strip should be in place by November 1, 2017, however, an extension may be possible to July of 2018.  A resolution was signed with SWCD agreeing  100 percent of the annual Wetland Conservation Act grant allocation be transferred to the Murray County SWCD with matching funds from SWCD.
