Nobles County continues bituminous paving work into July

Nobles County’s contractor Duininck Inc. has begun resurfacing County State Aid Highway 3 (Sundberg Avenue) west of Brewster between 150 Street and 200 Street, and will continue into this week, July 5 – 8.  The public can expect delays when using this roadway.  It is recommended that alternative routes be used if possible.

Following the completion of CSAH 3, the crews will begin on CSAH 16 south of Graham Lakes, between Highway 59 and CSAH 1. Work on Nobles County 16 is expected to take four to five days.

The resurfacing project involves adding a layer or two of pavement on the road. In addition to the bituminous paving being put on the driving lanes, an additional two feet of width will be added to each shoulder of the road. Nobles County Engineer Steve Schnieder explained that the additional paving on the shoulder is to help support the outside edge of the pavement. “It will help the pavement last longer, and it is also a safety feature,” he said.

This five-mile project on CSAH 3 is part of a 70 mile, $9.5 million contract that began in June and will be completed in September.  Five of the 14 projects included in the contract have already been substantially completed.   This roadway work is part of Nobles County’s larger commitment to improve the condition and safety of the county highway system.
