In Memory of Brian Olson

1960-BRIAN OLSON-2017

Brian Olson was born on January 26, 1960 in Slayton, Minnesota to Loraine (Lee) and Carroll Shaw Olson.  He grew up in Avoca and graduated from Slayton High School in 1978.  In that same year Brian enlisted in the United States Army.  On July 14, 1979 he and Joleen Kriesel were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Slayton.  Following their marriage they made their home in Germany where Brian was stationed until moving to Cambridge, MN.  They later divorced.  He married Stephanie Hunter on July 4, 1993. They made their home in the Twin Cities, MN, and Prattville AL, where Brian continued working for the United States Army in recruiting.  He retired in 1998.  They later divorced.  He then moved to Bloomington, MN and later to St. Francis, MN.  Brian passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at his home in St. Francis, MN at the age of 57.  Brian enjoyed trap shooting, target shooting and visiting with everyone and telling his Army stories.

Survivors include his two children and their spouses, Jeremy and Angie Olson of Zimmerman, MN, and Brittany and Ian Isle of Isanti, MN, three grandchildren Blake Olson, Laila Isle and Lennon Isle, five siblings, and their spouses, Sandy Olson of Oak Dale, MN, Barb and Gary Jacobsen of Apple Valley, MN, Jan Evens of Burnsville, MN, Terry and Dick Mahon of Lake Wilson, MN, and Keith and Marcia Olson of Tall Timbers, MD and several nieces and nephews and other family friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Katherine Brunk and her husband, Richard.

Memorial Services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Avoca, MN on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Dawn Quame officiating.  The organist is Sherri Isder.  The honorary pallbearers are Blake Olson, Laila Isle, Lennon Isle, Dan Kafka, Dan Dysthe and Delvin Gaul.  Interment is at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in rural Avoca, MN.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. to time of services at Faith Lutheran Church in Avoca.  Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton is entrusted with arrangements.  To send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com
