In memory of Ralph Brown

1922-RALPH BROWN-2017

Ralph passed away July 16, 2017 in Slayton, MN, he was 95 years old. He was born March 25, 1922 in O’Neill, Nebraska to Cecil and Dora Brown. He had a brother, Cecil Jr. and a sister Myrtle. He attended school there where he excelled in sports, especially boxing. After graduating high school, Ralph worked saddle breaking horses and bronc riding until he enlisted in the marines during WWII. He entered the marines on September 23, 1942 and served until December 7, 1945. He served overseas in the South Pacific. He earned the rank of Master Sergeant.

When he returned home from the war he continued working with horses as a farrier, which he did until he was nearly 80 years old. His other careers included branding inspector and letter carrier, both in Nebraska. He became an auctioneer in Fulda, MN. He and his wife, Marilyn enjoyed dancing and remodeling houses as a hobby. They liked to travel to Texas in winters where they made many dear friends.

Throughout his entire life his love for horses always remained. You will be dearly missed and fondly remembered cowboy.

Ralph is survived by his sons Jim (Karen), Bob (Jolene), Bruce (Sue), Dale, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his dear wife Marilyn and stepson David.

Ralph will be honored in a memorial service on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 401 N. Lafayette Ave., Fulda, MN. Officiating is Pastor John Lassen. A luncheon will follow at the church. Family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Murray County, MN.
