Michael “Mike” Henry Michelau, the son of Henry and Rosemary (Riebschlager) Michelau, was born on October 27, 1953 in Worthington, MN. He grew up near Dundee, MN and attended school in Westbrook and later Windom where he graduated. Mike then attended Jackson Vo Tech earning a Plumbing Degree. After his schooling he worked in Spencer, IA. Mike was united in marriage to Kendra Grapevine on March 4, 1978 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Worthington. After their marriage they lived in Spencer for a year before moving to Fulda, MN. Mike worked at Burmiester Scale Company and then as Director of Maintenance at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda for over 25 years. Mike passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at his lake cabin in Garrison, MN at the age of 63. He belonged to the Let’s Go Fishing With Seniors and Pheasants Forever. Mike loved hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors with his dog.
Survivors include his wife, Kendra Michelau of Fulda, MN; daughter, Heather (Alex) Bogie of Ham Lake, MN; 6 siblings, Larry Michelau of Daytona Beach, FL, Don (Marlene) Michelau of Grand Prairie, TX, Dianne (Tom) Schmitt of New Ulm, MN, Debra (Russ Caughey) Belcher of Fort Ripley, MN, Patricia (Dan) Remund of Jeffers, MN, and Lori (Mark) Bruce of Mesquite, TX; brother-in-law, Rodney Schumann of Colorado Springs, CO; sister-in-law, Jan Holtrop of Fulda, MN; aunt, Barb (Harry) Springman of Worthington, MN; uncle, John (Donna) Riebschlager of Pueblo, CO; many nieces and nephews and his dog, Cocoa. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, John Michelau, sister, Jeanne Schumann, brother, Rick Michelau and his father and mother-in-law, Leland and Dolores Grapevine.
Funeral Services were held at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 28, 2017 with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting officiating. Special music by Lloyd Winter. Honorary pallbearers were many nieces and nephews. Interment at Worthington Memorial Gardens Worthington, MN.
