LAMBERTON — For the second week in a row, the Fulda Raiders ran into a “buzzsaw” in early-season high school football action, tangling with the powerhouse Red Rock Central Falcons in Lamberton last Friday evening, September 8.
The Falcons, who enjoyed a highly-successful 2016 season as an 11-Man team, won their second game of the new season in impressive fashion as they rolled to a 48-6 victory over the Raiders, who are now 0-2. RRC’s first win came over Edgerton/Ellsworth by a final score of 35-24.
RRC scored 28 points in the first quarter and then — after Fulda completed a dandy drive to score a touchdown of its own — put seven more points on the board in the closing seconds of the second quarter, taking a 35-6 lead into halftime.
Fulda’s lone touchdown came on a three-yard run by junior quarterback Levi Spittle, which capped an efficient, time-consuming, 19-play drive which covered 84 yards and chewed up much of the second quarter.
