The feeling of winter has grasped our corner of the world. The promise of snow and cold is believable with Monday and Tuesday’s wind. It will be a long winter. Next Tuesday, Halloween, trick or treat kids may have a difficult time showing their costumes off under a heavy winter coat.
First Lake and Second Lake which make up Seven Mile in Fulda has always been a source of confusion. Locally it is known as the First Lake being in city and Second out of the city. The State of Minnesota knows it as the opposite and put it that way in all their maps and other official things they do. Last week we had a news release from the State Department of Fisheries. It said “First Fulda Lake was removed from the impaired water list. The Free Press ran the article on the front page with a photo of the north lake. Our apologies for adding more confusion, it is the south lake that has been removed from the list.

Two roofers, Larry and Joe, were on the roof laying tile, when a sudden win gust came and knocked down their ladder.
“I have an idea,” said Larry. “We’ll throw you down, and then you can pick up the ladder.”
“What, do you think, that I’m stupid?” replied Joe. “I have and idea! I’ll shine my flashlight, and you can climb down on the beam of light.”
Larry wasn’t having it. “What, do you think that I’m stupid? You’ll just turn off the flashlight when I’m halfway down.”
