Thursday, Nov. 16, 1967

Governor Harold LeVander announced an all-out 10-50 safety alert to focus on the property damage accidents which can and will happen to anyone on winter roads. The theme ‘10-50 Alert’ was chosen because 10-50 is the official Highway Patrol code for property damage accident.

Mr. and Mrs. Leander Zins announce the engagement of their daughter, Sally to Peter Strong. A December wedding is planned.

Bernice Mansmith and Bernice Webb have raised $156.25 in contributions for the “Little Red Stocking” program which has found homes for over ten thousand children since 1889.

Harold Schroeder had good luck during the one day deer hunting season as he returned home with an 8 point buck and a bear on the side.

The street naming and house numbering project of the Fulda Lions Club for the village of Fulda is coming to completion. Those still waiting their numbers will receive them soon.

The White Diamond Bowman Archery Club of Fulda has a new indoor shooting range located in the former Steinman Grocery store.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Kass are the parents of a daughter, Debra, born November 12th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Voit and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kass.

Citizens of Tomorrow include Bruce, 5 year old, and Terry, 3, Beckman; Brenda, 5 months, and Brian, 2, Herrmann; and Sheila, 7, and Pammy, 5, Magnus.

Coletta Tennessen shares her love of sewing, a skill she was taught by her mother as a young child.

Fifth graders, Monica Klein and Jenny Koopman enjoy learning the basic technique of keyboarding from high school teach Kris Schmidt.

The Fulda City Council votes to hire a second full time police officer at a pay rate of $15,500 per year.  This would eliminate the need for a part timer at a rate of $14,300 plus the Police Chief overtime costs.

The Fulda Future Homemakers of America are planning to give a gift to the March of Dimes by sponsoring a Children’s Style Show on November 30th.

The Fall Band Concert will be presented on November 19th at the High School.

Lori Johnson and Jeffrey Smith were united in marriage on August 8, 1987 in Excelsior, MN.

Henry and Bernice Beckman celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house on November 28th.

Peter and Pernice Kellen to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on November 21st.

Albert and Henrietta (Ommen) Dirksen to celebrate their 50th anniversary with an open house on November 22nd.

Stephen and Darlene Zinnel are the parents of a boy, Jonathan, born November 6.

Jon Beeck shot a 101 pound Mule Deer, a rarity in this area, during the second slug season on the northwest side of Fulda.

Ivan “Mike” West passed away at the age of 82 years old on November 27th after being ill and confined to his home for many years.

Dorothy Goins passed away November 9th at the age of 91 years old.

Lillian Brake passed away at the age of 80 at her home after a long illness on November 13th.

Evangeline Kivley passed away at the age of 83 years old on November 6th.

Veterans Day observance held at the Fulda Legion Hall on November 11th.

A special election was held in the city of Dundee on November 4th with 53 voters showing up at the poles to decide the fate of two ordinances; 1) onsale liquor and 2) Sunday liquor.

Lori Stoderl takes a piece of wood, adds a design, some paint and some frill and ends up creating unique Christmas and Holiday decorations.

Veterans Day program held by Legion Post 318.

Fulda quilter LaVonne Baerenwald honored by having her bicentennial quilt, which she made twenty years ago, on display at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts in a display called “Starburt Splendor: Selections from Minnesota Quilt Project.” Baerenwald’s quilt is one of 34 to be on display beginning December 13th.

The First National Bank of Slayton celebrated opening its new building with a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 9th.

The Fulda High School has 34 out of 52 seniors making the first quarter honor roll for 64.3%.

Tena Cuperus and Brian Edmundson were married on June 28th  at First Presbyterian Church, Fulda with Rev. Gordon Moen officiating.

Resident of the month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home for the month of November is Fred Holtrop.

Sara Sauer and Jason Barrie are proud to announce the birth of their son, Tanner born November 7th. Grandparents are Charles and Mary Kay Sauer and Ed and Dianne Barrie.

Adolph Gunderman passed away on November 5th at the age of 90 years old.

Thelbert Knutson passed away on November 5th at the age of 84 years old.
