Murray County Commissioners Invenergy presents plans for solar farms

Murray County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, November 28. Auditor/treasurer Heidi Winter presented a resolution for Election Equipment Grant. The grant of $44,962.50 would be used to purchase and maintain voting equipment. The resolution was signed and the grant will be applied for before December 15, 2017.

Winter continued she had a request from Inspect for replacing the roof on the courts building. The timeline for the repair could be moved up if the advertising for the construction could be advanced. The board gave permission to go out for bids as soon as possible.

Aurora Heard, county coordinator explained revisions to the 2018 Flexible Benefit Plan. and approval was given for the update.

Dan Litchfield, Senior manager, Project development for Invenergy, informed the board of the progress of the planned solar energy project in Murray County. The smaller project is expected to produce 33 megawatts and the Large Lake Wilson project solar farm 150 mg. He stated they will rent 1,650 acres for the two areas. It is estimated to have 200 jobs for the construction of the solar farms. It is expected to have the project ready for 2020.
