Sixty-one more voters showed up at the polls during  this years Fulda Village Election leaving the total votes cast at 320. Cliff Mansmith was elected Mayor and  Gary Cummins (a write-in candidate) was elected as Trustee. In other offices; A. H. Bodelson won Treasurer; E. W. Beckman was re-elected as Justice of the Peace; and Emil Sell received 255 votes for Constable.

The Great Dr. Kit, black-bearded hypnotist of international fame, will appear in Fulda December 9th and 11th.

Several area people were involved in a rash of accidents this week.

Greg Mathias sustained injuries to his head in a tractor trailer accident and was taken to Sioux Valley Hospital for head trauma surgery.

Mrs. Clifford Kuehl fell by the chicken house and broke her ankle.

Leonard Luchtenburg received an unusual injury last Saturday when a cow struck him accidentally with her knee breaking sinus bones.

Orville (Buddy) Hegseth was seriously injured Wednesday when he was pulled into the auger while loading corn receiving three compound fractures and five broken ribs.

Mrs. Joe Tjalma fell just outside her home fracturing her shoulder blade and elbow.

After being involved in a car collision, Mrs. Albert Dirksen suffered a broken arm, wrist and nose; Roy Dirksen had teeth knocked out of line and Lynette Ramerth had injured knees. Mr. Dirksen was bruised.

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Leinen are the parents of a son, born December 4th. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Vic Kommes and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Leinen.

Mr. and Mrs. Steven Ling are the parents of a daughter, Brenda, born November 29th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. George Lober and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ling.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Grote are the parents of a son, Michael, born on November 30th. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Don Peterson.

Troy David, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ruesch, was born November 26th. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ruesch and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton More.

Former Fulda resident, Louis Breit, passed away on December 4th at the age of 74 years old in Houston.

Mrs. Blanche Thomas (Knox) passed away on November 28th.

Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn Nursing Home this month were Pete Peterson, Mrs. Tillie Stevens, Mrs. Emma Schultz and Mrs. Dorothy Hornickel.

Students in Hank Lenards Government class enact a court case with Kris Schwab acting as Bailiff, Jamie Blesi as Officer Osburn, Eric Miller as prosecuting lawyer, Carol Dorphinghaus as defending attorney, and Dan Fuchs as John – accused in the death of a security guard.

Sixth graders take a class from Gen Stewart on ceramics.

State Rep. Ted Winter has lunch with Darcy Kremer and Melanie Michelau during Advocate for Excellence in Education week.

Tim and Glenda Beeck are the proud parents of a daughter, Ashley, born November 27th. Grandparents are Roger and Judy Gerber and Lester and Dorothy Beeck.

Tim and Nancy Schroeder announce the birth of a daughter, Katie on November 25th. Grandparents are Harold and Dorothy Schroeder.

Jeff Towne and Jenny Fuerstenberg are the parents of a girl, Angela born November 28th. Grandparents are Bill and Sharon Fuerstenberg and Darwin and Betty Towne.

Raymond Plut passed away on December 3rd from complications to by-pass surgery performed one month ago. Mr. Plut was 62 years old.

The Fulda City Council reviewed a summary of preliminary improvement costs for the St. Paul Avenue project. The project will be paid for 100% on water user fees in combination between base and volume. The cost was estimated at $9.41 to $10.54 per month for 20 years per water meter.

Preschool children from Mrs. Peterson’s and Mrs. Spartz’s class rooms enjoyed time spent at Maple View Estates once a month as the snuggle up with a ‘grandma-type’ lady read them their favorite story book.

The Bauman Brothers to perform in Fulda December 7th.

FLA/FHA is collecting food and toy donations during the holiday season for the local food shelf.

The Word of Faith Fellowship of Avoca is presenting a Christmas musical entitled “Code Red – An E. R. Christmas” on December 7.

Jennifer Sanow and Matthew Kellen were united in marriage on August 9th at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church with Father Eugene Egan officiating.

Marguerite Cosgriff passed away on November 27th at 100 years old.

Janet Sanderson, age 50, passed away at her home following a lengthy illness on November 25th.

Elizabeth Pederson passed away on November 27th at the age of 93 years old.
