The Fulda Swimming Pool is the “Best Kept Secret in Southwest Minnesota”. The pool is a great asset in our small community for people of all ages. Many people use the pool annually through programs that include: senior aquacise, lap/open swim, private parties, and especially swimming lessons. Teaching children/adults to swim can provide certain levels of life saving abilities in the future. Also, research shows that swimming offers many health benefits such as: low impact exercise on joints; increased caloric burn, endurance, flexibility, metabolism, and muscle strength; and, reduction of anxiety, blood pressure, and stress.
In 1979, the indoor pool was built adjacent to the Elementary School. It has eight lanes, a slide and diving board. To maintain a temperature of approximately 87 degrees, pool blankets were installed to insulate the water, therefore, assisting the heater unit without increased electrical usage. If the pool is not covered, the humidity increases causing multiple problems such as: doors freezing shut, alarms sounding that require fire department checks, slippery floors, and condensation that causes painted walls to bubble and peel.
