As far as Interstate Power Company is concerned last weeks sleet storm was the worst that has struck this area in 20 years. Ice on the conductors caused lines to whip and tear loose. Poles were broken due to the weight of the ice and the wind. Interstates main transmission line across Southern Minnesota was unaffected but the 69,000 volt and 24,000 volt lines connecting the towns together were in a difficult state. There are three main lines coming into Fulda and all three of them were knocked out. Other towns in the area affected were Lismore, Luverne, Lakefield, Dundee, and Kinbrae to name a few.
