First on the agenda was nominating a new chairman. James Jens and Dave Thiner were on the ballot. Jens was chosen and a unanimous vote was cast for Lori Gunnink as vice chair.
The Board reviewed and approved paying the 2018 appropriations and dues. Included is ACE of SW MN – quarterly payments of $3,762.75, ACE of SW MN (for coordinator on Aging Services) – quarterly payments of $4,187.50, American Legion Posts in County – $2,300, Area II MN River Basin – $2,945.30, Casey Jones Trail/Friends of – $1,000, Fulda Food Shelf, Inc. – $1,200, Fulda Heritage Society – $2,500, Murray County Ag Society ($13,750 in January and $13,750 in July and balance remaining of $34,000 if needed upon request after the fair), Murray County Economic Development Authority (Amy Rucker) – $14,500, Murray County Mutual Aid Assoc. – $3,000, Murray County Treasurer (SCORE – recycling center rent) – $7,008, Pioneer Public TV – $1,000, Plum Creek Library System – semi-annual payments of $29,333.50, RCRCA (Kerry Netzke) – $4,050, Southern MN Tourism Association – $436.25, Southwest Arts & Humanities Council – $500, Southwest Health and Human Services (Public Health) – $106,881, Southwest Initiative Foundation – $2,620, SW MN Workforce Center – $2,230, SWRDC – Treasurer – MN Early Childhood Initiative – $3,000, SWRDC – Treasurer – Rural MN Energy Board – $2,500, Travel SW MN Inc. – $1,000.
Heidi Winter shared with the Board the bids received for the Murray County Courts Building repair. Six bids were received ranging from $208,802 to $297,000. The low bidder was Herizon Roofing, Inc., from Waite Park, MN. It is hoped to begin the first part of May.
The bid for the official newspaper was awarded to the editorial group of Wheel-Herald, Murray County News and Fulda Free Press at $11.80 per column inch – the amount remains the same as 2017.
