Diane Handy was born on June 17, 1948, in Heron Lake, Minnesota to the late Lloyd Henry Albert and Agnes Marie (Hochstein) Preuss. She received her early education in the Heron Lake Public Schools and later graduated from Jeffers High School in the Class of 1966. She then furthered her education at Jackson Vo-Tech in Jackson, Minnesota.
On August 12, 1967, Diane was united in marriage to Raymond W. Handy at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Okabena. After marriage, Diane and Ray made their home in Dundee and in 2006, moved to Windom. Besides being a loving wife and mother, Diane also worked at the Heron Lake Nursing Home, McDonald’s and as a foster grandparent until May 15, 2017 when she retired.
Diane was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom.
Diane is survived by her husband of fifty years, Ray Handy of Windom; two sons, Matthew and his wife, Cindy, of Worthington; David and his wife, Kimberly, of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; one sister, Joann Johnson and her husband, Al, of Hastings; and several nieces and nephews.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents; and one infant son.
A Celebration of life at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom, MN on Wednesday, January 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Paul Sajban. Honorary bearers include all of Diane’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Interment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery ~Okabena, Minnesota (at a later date).
