All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 2018 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. The local competition will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Murray County Central high school gym in Slayton. The girls will shoot at 1:00 p.m. and the boys will shoot at 2:00 p.m. Registration begins 15 minutes prior to each competition. There is no fee to participate.
All girls and 9, 10 and 11 year old boys will use a girl’s basketball. Girls and boys ages 9, 10, and 11 will shoot from 3 feet in front of the free throw line.
The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually with winners progressing through local, district, regional and state competition. International champions are announced by the K of C international headquarters based on scores from the state-level competitions.
All boys and girls 9 to 14 years of age on January 1, 2018 are eligible to participate and will compete in respective age divisions. Last year more than 120,000 kids participated in 3,600 local competitions.
All contestants on the local level are recognized for their participation in the event. Participants are required to furnish their age and parental consent on the entry form. Entry forms will be available the day of competition. For additional information contact Dave Schreiber at 836-6705.
