Sioux Falls, SD- Glen J. Ruesch, 74, formerly of Fulda, MN, died Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. His memorial service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, January 27 at George Boom Funeral Home & Crematory, Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service.
Glen Jerome Ruesch, son of Ernest and Gladys (Schumm) Ruesch, was born September 10, 1943 in Worthington, MN. He grew up on the family farm. Glen attended country school and graduated from Worthington High School in 1961. After graduation; Glen joined the National Guard and worked for the family tiling business.
Glen was united in marriage with Ruth Wiener on September 3, 1966 at the Immanuel American Lutheran Church in rural Fulda, MN. The couple lived in Wilmont, MN where they started their family. In 1968, they moved to rural Fulda and farmed for 12 years. The family moved to Brandon, SD in 1980. Glen purchased his own car wash business in Sioux Falls, SD and named it Glen’s Car Wash. In 2001, he sold his business and retired.
Glen’s greatest passion were airplanes. He spent numerous hours building model airplanes and flying them. In addition, he earned his pilot’s license and flew his Cessna airplane out of the Tea and Sioux Falls airports. Glen’s other hobbies included playing cards and wintering in Arizona. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. Glen also enjoyed a good meal. When he asked a blessing on the food, he would use his favorite quote, “Good food, good meat, good Lord, lets eat”, which always made the family laugh.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Ruth; a son, Daniel Ruesch, Sioux Falls, SD; two daughters, Lori Rickenbaugh and her husband, Steven, Sioux Falls, SD, LeAnn Overbeek and her husband, David, Akeley, MN; three granddaughters, Miranda Ruesch, Karmen Ruesch, Kaylea Rickenbaugh; a brother, Dale Ruesch and his wife, Elaine, Worthington, MN; a sister, Carol Lundbeck and her husband, Orville, Avoca, MN; and many other relatives and friends.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Gladys Ruesch, and a brother, Lloyd Ruesch.
