Ten area towns were represented at the Boy Scout Camp at Lake Shetek on Saturday for Klondike Derby competition. Klondike involved Scout skills such as knot tying, first aid, and fire building. Joining Scoutmaster Randy Larsen in the competition from Fulda were Scouts Pat Wandersee, Jason Larsen, Chad Deuschle, Cory Czepa, Darren Bruns, Chad Wieskus, Tim Larson, Brad Wieskus and Brock Larsen.

The final informational meeting on the Fulda School referendum was held on Monday, January 25th with concerned parents leaving with an open mind.

Margaret Czepa Redenius was honored as Resident of the Month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home for January.

Dorothy Reker is a success at her job as director of RSVP, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, as she goes out of her way to put Seniors at ease.

Fulda High School Senior Profiles include Pamela Ann Olsem, Susan Koster and Kimberly Harms.

Fulda boys basketball team had no trouble defeating the Storden/Jeffers Chiefs 64-46. High scorers for the night were Jamie Blesi, 15, Ray Winter, 12, and Eric Miller 12.

Clifford Kuehl passed away suddenly at his home on January 19, 1988 at the age of 67 years old.

Lloyd “Tootie” Johnson passed away at the age of 63 years old on January 19, 1988 at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Edward E. Fitzgerald passed away on January 11, 1988. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on January 13th.

After fourteen years in the hardware business in Fulda, Edna Lyons has decided to call it quits as she retires from Appel’s Hardware.

Trista Blouin has been hired as the coordinator for the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).

The Fulda City Council voted 3 to 2 to increase the insurance paid by the city to employees to include 100% coverage of insurance.  Insurance cost to the city for one family is $460.00.

The Fulda School Board members attended a conference in Minneapolis this month with the Keynote Speaker touching on “A vision, a mission and accountability.”

Preschool students take time out of their busy week to visit residents of Maple View Estates.

Warrior wrestlers traveled to Lake Park, IA for the Spirt Lake Park Wrestling Tournament on Saturday. With every wrestler finishing in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place the Warriors came away with top honors winning the tournament.

The marriage ceremony uniting Angela Getzel and Brian Kanten was held on December 27th at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington with Pastor Bill Blundell officiating.

Candace Hup and Adam Boerema announce their engagement. A July 24th wedding is being planned.

Cecelia Murphy will be honored on her 80th birthday with an open house at the American Legion Hall in Worthington.

Deddo Bestge passed away at the age of 82 years old on January 20, 1998 in his home in Fulda.
