Leann May Wenzel, the daughter of Theodore and Eva (Berry) Dalin, was born on December 16, 1937 in Worthington, MN. She grew up on a farm in Seward Twp., Nobles Co., MN. She attended country school through the 3rd grade then attended Fulda Public Schools and graduated from the Fulda High School in 1955. Leann worked as a telephone operator after she graduated until 1962. Leann was united in marriage to Vernon Wenzel on February 23, 1958 at the First Presbyterian Church in Fulda. After their marriage they lived in Fulda until 1963 when they moved to Tyler, MN. In 1965 they moved to Maynard, MN and lived there until moving to Janesville, MN in 1967. 1n 1968 they returned to her childhood home southeast of Fulda where they shared their love of farming together until their retirement in 2005. Leann also worked as a Home Health Aid and Piano Teacher for many years. Leann passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN at the age of 80. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she has been a member of the choir since 1958. She also taught Sunday school, made quilts for missions, was Chairwoman of the LWML and was the music planner for church. She also belonged to the Fulda Pink Ladies. Leann enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking for family gatherings, sewing, reading, Bee keeping, playing and teaching the piano, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Vern Wenzel of Fulda, MN; three children, Babette (Randy) Thorsen of Fergus Falls, MN, Jock (Lisa Jo) Wenzel of Albert Lea, MN and Berry (Stacey Reding) Wenzel of Tacoma, WA; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and sister, Janice Reusse of Marietta GA. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 3, 2018 with Rev. Shawn Ethridge officiating. The organist is Loretta Gehl. The pallbearers are Greg Gunderman, Jim Buschena, Dale Bestge, Randy Hein, Bruce Leinen and Mark Gehl. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery Fulda, MN.
