The Fulda School District 505 referendum was passed on Monday evening by a slim margin of 11 votes with the final tally; 589 yes and 578 no.

Mediation between Fulda Education Association and the Fulda School Board continues to deal with a two-year pay schedule; health insurance, disability insurance and any extra curricular pay involved. Both sides feel they are correct. The FEA does not feel they are asking for anything the school district can not afford to give and the school board does not see how they can give the teachers more money – period.

Betty Czepa and Sherlene Ramerth have become certified dental assistants and will continue to work with Dr. Brockway.

Court of Honor will be held for Fulda Scout, Tom Brockway as he will receive the highest honor of scouting, the Eagle Award.

Vern Pals was sworn in as a new council member on Monday, February 1 at the regular city council meeting.

Claire Snider shares her life story being only fourteen years old when her family moved to the area. Claire became a teacher and worked as a public educator for 44 years and was a principal for almost fifteen years. She received her one-year certification in Mankato, Minnesota which allowed her to teach in a country school (but not a city school – that took a two year certificate). She then began her teaching career in District 54, a country school near Fulda. In the forties Clair was sent to fill a vacancy in Bloomington, MN brought on by the war. Later, she received her Masters from the “U” and became a Principal and eventually retired in 1973.
