Sidewalks around the city are part of the ongoing concerns of those who use them. The Safe Route to School meeting provided a list of existing problems around town. Of particular interest are those leading to and from the schools. Problem intersections and sidewalk/path gaps are part of the problem, as well as broken/heaved sidewalks. The city plans on placing new walks where needed on city property. The council also discussed ways to encourage property owners to repair or replace their walks.
There was a long discussion on water charges, leaks and back washing the city filters. Prompted by this year’s water study, the thoughts were on making gradual and steady improvements or doing it all at once. There will more concern for finding leaks and fixing them as spring approaches.
The council approved the recommendation of Jenny Winter to the Fulda EDA Board.
The purchase of a new F150 truck from Marthaler Ford of Worthington for $27,528 was approved. The current pickup will be sold on bids.
