Fulda Raider girls drop two games on the week

After a caucus-mandated break to start the week, the Raider Girls dropped games on Thursday and Saturday to Red Rock Central and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton.

Both games had bright spots and flashes of good play but ultimately resulted in losses. The Raiders will try to bounce back with a busy four game week next week.

Against Red Rock Central, the Raiders jumped out to an early 7-3 lead, causing RRC to use an early timeout. Unfortunately, RRC went on one of two long first-half runs, going up 23-9. The half settled in from there, with Fulda cutting it to single digits before sever foul trouble resulted in a 34-15 lead for the Falcons at halftime. In the second half, the Raiders were able to match RRC shot for shot in a closely contested period. Fulda was unable to cut into the deficit but the Falcons could not extend it either until a few RRC baskets late put the final margin at 71-45.

Camryn Baumhoefner led the Raiders with 15 points, a season high in scoring for the senior. Kelsey Fuerstenberg had a nice game with 7 points as well. Haley Simonson had a game-high 21 for RRC, with Hannah DeCock adding 10.
