Denise Rohan, national commander of the American Legion, made a stop in Fulda last Tuesday night as part of her Minnesota tour. She started her day in Bayport for breakfast and then traveled to Fulda for a 6:00 p.m. supper and meeting.
Rohan, from Wisconsin, is the first woman ever elected National Commander of the nation’s largest veterans service organization. She is a native of Iowa, and served in the Army during the Vietnam War era. She was employed by the University of Wisconsin until her retirement.
Rohan has served the American Legion since 1984. While commander of Post 333 in Sun Prairie, Wis., she established Sons of the American Legion Squadron 333 and chartered Boy Scout Troop 333.
She is a 2006 graduate of the National American Legion College and 2015 graduate of the Wisconsin American Legion College – basic course. She has gone on to serve as department (state) and national American Legion College facilitator.
