Dawson Blankenship started the tournament out at 106# wrestling Riley Cowell from Luverne. Dawson took Riley down to start the tournament out, but Riley came back and beat Dawson by the score of 10-2. Dawson then was up against Dameco Arredondo from Redwood Valley. Dawson came alive in this match and took control of his opponent. Dawson beat his rival from Redwood by the score of 9-2. Next up for Dawson was Daman Schutz from Worthington. Dawson came out and wrestled Damon tough, but only to lose by the score of 3-0. Dawson was one match away from placing this year.
Next up for the Warriors was Danny Blankenship at 120#. Danny was given a bye first round and then he was up against Nick Syverson from New Ulm. Danny came out and took Syverson down right away and then took control of the match. Danny cradled Syverson at the end of the 1st period to end the match with a pin. Danny then was matched up against Hsa Lah Eh from Marshall. Danny started the match out trying to take his Marshall opponent down. Danny was countered by Eh and put in a cradle. Danny got out of the pinning hold only to have his arm caught under him and Danny ended up losing via fall. Danny was then up against Kadin Huntley from Dawson/LQPV/Montevideo. Danny started out giving up a takedown right away, but then Danny settled down and wore Huntley down. Danny defeated Huntley by the score of 9-2. Danny was slated against Jed Feuchtenberger from Morris for third place. Danny came out with nothing to lose and he wrestled that way. Danny defeated the Morris wrestler by the score of 18-7 to place 3rd in the section missing a state tournament by one place.
