Fulda Community Players’ New Director – Dwayna Paplow – Upcoming play: The Odd Couple

Editor’s Note:

Dwayna Paplow has graciously accepted the role of the new director of the Fulda Community Players. She succeeds Wilma Lindquist, Director, and Margaret Popp, assistant who faithfully produced year after year of plays for the Fulda community and those in the surround area to enjoy.

Paplow brings to the position a zeal that had its first budding right on the stage in Fulda, under the direction of Wilma Lindquist. She was asked recently to share her story and love of theatre with our readers.

Her story follows:

My theatrical background? It started here in Fulda. Between the community plays directed by Wilma Lindquist for 30 or so years and the Speech team coached by Jean Martins and Nancy Bakke in the 1990s, I fell for the power of performance and public speaking. The last few years of high school, I was thrilled to be paid to attend the Minnesota State Fair and work on performance events in the 4-H Building. Next came college. I was excited to start a theater arts degree at the University of Minnesota, Morris, but I was also oddly non-chalantant about it. It was a major that I enrolled in until I figured out what I *really* wanted to do. That was 1998. By 2015, I’d been working in theater and events for 17 years taking on all sorts of responsibilities – mostly set construction and design, backstage coordination, and events. The most shocking thing for me, is that I’m an introvert! I’m still not sure how an introvert finds their way into a theatrical career.
