Children’s Author Gordon Fredrickson to present workshops to Fulda students

Children’s author Gordon Fredrickson will be at Fulda Elementary School on Wednesday, March 21st. He, along with author Douglas Wood, was selected for traveling author visits for the Children’s Author and Illustrator Program coordinated by the SWWC Service Cooperative’s Student Activities Department.

The Children’s Author and Illustrator Program bring’s children’s authors and or illustrators into local elementary classrooms to give the students  a change to connect with a published author and or illustrator.

Fredrickson will show the students what it takes to become a writer, including how to generate ideas, inspirations, challenges and achieve success.

At Fulda Elementary School on Wednesday, March 21st, Fredrickson will hold four sessions with students of different ages. St. Paul’s Lutheran School students will be joining with Fulda Elementary School students for  the workshops.

Fredrickson grew up on a farm in Scott County, Minnesota. He taught school for many years. After retiring from teaching, Gordon wrote a children’s book entitled County Road Christmas Eve, writing the content patterned after his boyhood experience of waiting for Santa to visit.

His goal has been to “encourage farm pride, increase agricultural literacy, and preserve farm heritage. Some of his books has been co-authored with his wife, Nancy.

This event is funded by the MN Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
