Mark F. Moran will be in Fulda on Friday, May 18th, and his listing of antiques to appraise is already growing! The event will be held at 1 p.m. and will be at Fulda City Hall. 40 slots are available within a three-hour period for Moran to appraise local antiques. If you are interested in having him appraise an item that you own, please call Fulda Memorial Library at 507-425-3277.
“Those attending the event can expect humor, anecdotes, tales from the road and just a lot of fun,” Moran stated.
When asked about his passion for antiques and how he has cultivated it throughout the years, Moran said, “I first walked into an antique shop in 1973. I became a part-time dealer in the 1980s, and started writing books in the 1990s. I was working in the newspaper industry, but quit that to write antique reference books full time in 2002. Along the way, I have met hundreds of great folks in the antiques trade and learned from them as well.”
When asked how the event works, Moran replied, “With a 40-item event, spending 4 minutes on each item works out to 160 minutes, or two hours and 40 minutes, plus two 10-minute breaks for me. I ask the folks what they know about the object, and how they acquired it.” He then explains its history or intended use, details about the maker or country or region of origin, the era when it was made and any design influences.
