Research shows that when Preschool children are frequently read to, their brain areas supporting comprehension and mental imagery are highly engaged. Studies show that this helps with the development of reading skills, such as word recognition, when they start to learn to read.
Fulda Elementary Preschool classes were given a Reading Challenge in the month of March to read at least 20 minutes at home each day. We also invited parents and community members to be guest readers in our classroom. Grandma Syd continued her tradition of dressing up as “The Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly” and read the book to the Fulda Elementary Preschool classes.
