Phil Hatten was named manager of the Pipestone Great Plains Lumber Yard this week. He previously managed the Great Plains Lumber Yard in Fulda, MN. Les Janssen has been appointed the manager in Fulda with Rick Zemler and Ceil Gerber to work there.

Bruce Ruppert began his career as an announcer and salesman at the WLQH radio station in Chiefland, Florida.

Speech students, Sue Amborn, Cathy Olson and Peg Haberman won at the District 8 finals held last Thursday and will move on to Region II Speech competition.

Postmaster  Ed Balt traveled to Huron, South Dakota to attend the National Association of Postmasters of the U.S. conference.

Ladies of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church completed their winter project of sewing 36 quilts for Lutheran World Relief. An average of 25 ladies worked each Wednesday afternoon cutting, stitching and tying quilts.

Jane Kriel and Steven Horn announce their engagement. A July 14th wedding is planned.

Captain and Mrs. John Steiner are the proud parents of a baby girl, Heather, born March 28th. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. James Steiner and Mr. and Mrs. Don Fitch.

A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jon Capon on March 29th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Greenfield.

Reverend and Mrs. Walter Lange announce the adoption of a baby girl, Kimberly, born March 2nd. Kimberly arrived at the Lange home on April 5th.

Mary Kearney passed away suddenly of a heart attack on March 10th in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Mary was 56 years old.

Twyla and Ray Goedtke are hosting an agricultural exchange student again this year. Janna Arlin, a 25 year old young lady, came to live with the Goedtke’s the end of March and is interested in the United States farming methods.

Kevin Seres, Dennis Fuchs, Joe Serrao, Steve Engelkes, Mark Koster and Kevin Trierweiler are busy taking care of plants in the greenhouse. According to Mr. Uhlenkamp, Agriculture Instructor many of the plants will be placed in the school patio area.

The Fulda German band, Trachtentapelle Elters/Rhön will arrive in Fulda, Minnesota on July 7th.

Henry Pollak is honored as Resident of the Month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

Citizens of Tomorrow feature Amanda and Jesse Jacoboson, Justin and Brandon Thiner, and Amy and Thomas Sandhurst.

Tracy Janssen and Ronald Thom announce their engagement. A July 23 wedding is planned.

Marvin and Sherri Isder are proud to announce the birth of Lucas Paul born on April 2nd. Grandparents are Rimer and Florence Isder and Lois Ohlson and Max Ohlson.

The Fulda Kids Wrestling Squad placed third at the New Prague Tournament. Individuals winning all four of their matches were Ryan Crowley, Tom Aane

nson, David Peterson and Mark Clauson. Winning 3 of 4 matches were Adam Hart, Josh Tiesler, and Cory Czepa. Others participating in the third place win were Brian Zins, Brock Larsen, Ryan Chepa, Mark Lee, Adam VanOort, Brannon Paplow, Jeff Grengs, Doug Schipper, Brent Riess, Jeremy Chapman and Kent Crowley.

Fulda Public Elementary School holds Easter Bonnet Parade with students in each grade decorating their own hats.

The City of Fulda received several bids on the St. Paul Avenue Project. The bids will be evaluated and a contractor awarded Tuesday afternoon.

n, Mat Witzel, Josh Speckmier, Easton Laackmann, Justin Kremer and Luke Moen enjoyed the Easter weather with a few short hours of fishing on the north shore of Fulda’s lake. The boys used their ace fishing techniques to produce a fine batch of Perch for supper.

Miss Fulda contest scheduled for April 27th at the Fulda Community Hall.

Police Officer Tim Trocke set up a sting at area Fulda businesses with the hope that store owners would learn about the security of their businesses.

Featured in Fulda High School Senior Profiles are Sarah Loosbrock and Michelle Nath.

The preschool classes of Mrs. Lisa Peterson and Mrs. Alice Spartz had their Easter celebration at Antonio’s. They read Easter books, made a banner and had an egg hunt.

Marlys Johnson shares the story of her father, Reinhart Burns and his parents and siblings coming to America and their encounter with the Titanic before and after it’s fate.

Clean up from the March 29th twister continued on Saturday, April 11th as friends and strangers pitch in to help. Up to 10 tractors and flat beds were seen canvassing the fields west of Fulda.

Fulda Cub Scouts learned about electricity and the currents flowing through a battery from Dan Witzel at their meeting on April 7th.

Julie Hayes and Michael Olsem announce their engagement. The couple plan an April 25th wedding.

Douglas Onken passed away at the age of 59 years old on March 28th.

Aloysius G. Illg passed away unexpectedly at the age of 87 on April 8th.

Duane and Molly Fenske are the proud parents of a boy, Brian, born April 6th. Grandparents are Martha Fenske and Kathleen Zieske.
