Les Janssen took over duties as manager at Great Plains Supply Company this week.

Fulda Elementary School teacher Mrs. Ora Denney was honored at a surprise social hour retirement party on April 12th in the school cafeteria.

The Fulda Cub Scouts took 1st place for the second year in a row in top display at the Scout-o-Rama held in Worthington on April 14th.

Becky Bunkers was named Miss South Dakota USA on April 7th. The pageant took place in Deadwood, S.D.

Ed Lewis and the Fulda Fire Department will be distributing Red Stickers to be placed in the bedroom windows of invalids. The stickers will assist the firemen in locating the person in case of fire.

The marriage of Mary Hakeneis and Randy Lennon was solemnized on Saturday afternoon, April 7th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Fulda, MN with Rev. A. J. Kretzschmar officiating the ceremony.

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Chepa are the parents of a girl born March 24th. Grandparents include Mrs. Marion Ridenour, Mr. Ridenour and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Chepa.

Mr. and Mrs. Owen J. Smith are the parents of a son, Joel born April 5th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clem Smith and Mrs. Franklin Scully.

A son, Tony was born Wednesday, April 11th to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Vanden Bosch. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ted Vanden Bosch.

Katharina Miller passed away on April 13th at the age of 88 years old.

Helen Widman, quilter extraordinar, has been making quilts for years. She is especially proud of her ‘bird quilt’ design.

A public meeting has been set for April 21st to discuss the Iron Bacteria found in the City of Fulda No. 1 Well.

Kristen Schwab is honored as 1988 Buddy Poppy Queen for VFW Post 9017 and Auxiliary of Fulda.

Luke Odenbrett has been named Boys Stater by the Fulda American Legion  and will travel to St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minnesota on June 12th.

Six file for three open positions on the Fulda School Board; Diane Kirchner, Lee Crowley, Roger Deuschle, Mark Knorr, Doug Stewart and Mike Zins.

Erik Youngbloom, Fulda Police Officer, won the Midwest Police and Fire Powerlifting championship held in Brooklyn Park on April 9th.

Wayne and Heidi Drealan are proud to announce the birth of a son, Anthony on April 16th. Grandparents are Mrs. Bernice Drealan and Dr. and Mrs. Hubert Werthmann.

Dennis and Denise Probst are proud to announce the birth of Jacqueline born on April 14th. Grandparents include Elvera Probst, Lillian Vets and Harold Miller.

Citizens of Tomorrow include Travis Kramer and Matthew,  Eric, Joseph and Mickey Behr.

Teresa Gehl and Dan Halbur  announce their engagement. A June 24th wedding is being planned at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda.

Rita Schoeppler and Brent Honeycutt announce their engagement. A May 28th wedding is planned.

Paula Probst and Michael Ahrens were married February 27th at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda with the Rev. John Traufler officiating.

Alfred Gunderman passed away on April 13th at the age of 83 years old.

Rosa Murphy passed away on March 23rd at the age of 91 years old.

Fred Bremer passed away at his home at the age of 84 on April 14th.

William Leopold passed away on April 17th at the age of 88 years old.

Eight girls vie for Miss Fulda; Andrea Olsem, Bridget Sieve, Kristin Crowley, Sarah Beckmann, Kacee Pals, Valerie Chapman, Angela Stewart and Tonya Grothe.

The Fulda City Council has accepted the low bid of $1,094,011 from Larson Crane of Worthington for the St. Paul Avenue project.

Guest Speaker Sliv Carlson, Department of Children, Family and Learning will speak at a special meeting at the Fulda high school on the new Graduation Standard and Profile of Learning policy.

Deb and Denny Appel, Appel’s Hardware, have announced a merger between Our Own Hardware and Do It Best Corporation.

Featured in Fulda High School Senior Profiles this week are Raymond Paulzine and Mike Loosbrock.

The Fulda Cub Scout’s hold their Annual Pine Wood Deby April 16th.

Lillian Popken honored as Maple Lawn Resident of the Month.

John Beckman passed away on April 16th at the age of 94 years old.

Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn Nursing Home are Anna Miller, Meg Lucks, Ethel Reese, Minnie Coffitt, Kriene Kramer and Helen Smith.

National RSVP week celebrated; recognized were Margaret Anderson and Mildred Arens.

Raider gals win the Fulda Invitational Track Meet with a score of 134. WWG-RRC came in second with a score of 122. The Fulda boys took home second being nipped by MCC.
