After being cancelled from April 14th due to a major winter storm, Fulda’s Relay for Life Team held their 2nd Annual Table Cancer event on Saturday at Fulda Legion/Community Hall.
The highlights of the event are previewing the many different decorated tables, the luncheon, and visiting with those attending, as well as the rich and fulfilling knowledge that contributions are being made to help fight cancer.
Eight tables were decorated this year, with the first one being named Golf Par-Tee! The hostess was Tami Kremer. Describing the table, Tami said, “The green Depression plates made me think of the golf greens! So why not do a golf themed table? As a child I remember my mom using this luncheon set. I believe she received them as a bridal shower gift. Since golfing is a great family pastime, I decided a “Golf Par-Tee” would be fun!
For table number two, the sponsors’ theme was “We do not like cancer here or there. We do not like cancer anywhere!” Hostesses for this table were Lyn Ramerth, Cleone Ramerth, Sue Gunderman, Tammy O’Neil, Rachel Bell, Hayden Bell, Vicki Engelkes, Marlys Engelkes and Barb Wildfeuer. They said that, “Dr. Seuss has influenced people of all ages. We chose our theme because of the affect cancer and Dr. Seuss has had on our lives. We hope you enjoy our Dr. Seuss themed Relay for Life table. ‘One Wish, Two Wish. I Wish. You wish. A cure for cancer is our wish.’
Clover and Bunnies was the theme for a table hosted by Rita Lear. About her settings, she said, “The clovers, shamrocks and bunnies immediately make us think of spring. The dishes were purchased at an antique store and were added to my ever growing dish collection. While they are not antique, they make a very colorful table setting.
