Council accepts resignation of fireman

The Fulda City Council met Monday night starting with the Public Forum. Gary Clarke received a permit for the fire department to have a street dance. Diane Kirchner requested her street be closed for a family reunion. The street is a dead end, which was approved. Ron Kirchner wishes to plant shrubs on his property line and was reminded of set backs. Bill Lindquist spoke about urban development on his lot on the north side. Jon Nau said his church is planning a Fulda city-wide barbecue for August 30 in the city park. The event will have free food and inflatables, which was approved with proof of insurance. Dan Uttech requested festival camper arrangements and a Lions liquor application. Julie Burchill requested a boulevard tree removal because it was unsafe. Luke Isder requested city help in redoing the beach at Seven Mile Park. The plan is to remove muck and replace with a beach liner and sand. The city will provide equipment and Neil Frodermann offered to donate his time.

Neil Frodermann listed a number of improvements including dust control on Davis Street, summer help, new/used snowplow truck, and said the discharge was out of control with storm water and sump pumps. He said sump pumps need to be banned from the sanitary sewer all year. Mayor John Maertens said the runoff will be discussed at the next meeting. The city will be advertising for a summer employee position.

The Fulda Fire Department has one less fireman after the resignation of Neil Frodermann. The council voted three to two to accept the resignation.  The possibility of a third city worker will be discussed at the June meeting
