Stellar performances in the field events, including a first-place effort by junior Sam Cheadle in the high jump, highlighted Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda’s scoring in the 11-team Dick Davidson Invitational (formerly known as the Rebel Relays) at Slayton last Thursday, May 10.

Competing on a cool, cloudy day with intermittent drizzle, the Coyotes racked up 54.5 points, getting 39.5 of them on eight placing performances in the field events.

Cheadle scored 10 points for HL-O / Fulda by clearing 5-8 to win the high jump.

“Sam had a big all-around day at the True Team Meet on Monday, placing in all three jumping events (high jump, triple jump and long jump),” declared Coyotes’ head coach Brad Holinka. “He put all his focus on the high jump in this meet and ended up winning the event.”
