Thursday and Friday were cool, rainy and not good for yard work. Friday night at the end of the workday we were on the road.
We spent this last weekend in the Cities. Saturday morning started a comfortable day at the University of Minnesota Arboretum followed by a plant sale that was attended by hundreds of people. There were block long lines waiting to pay for their purchases. Four cash registers were running hot. We had a few plants that we couldn’t live without but most were pulling wagons or pushing boxes. The plants were great and the prices more than fair. Herbs to trees, bonsai plants to succulents. Mid afternoon found us at Matt’s Bar for the famous Juicy Lucy burger. The line to get in was out the door at 3 p.m. with a 45 minute wait. The grill was running eighteen burgers at a time continuously. President Obama’s lunch was held there a few years back. The burger was two patties fused around molten cheese and the fries were fantastic. They boasted no plates, no utensils, and no ice. It’s worth the trouble.
Sunday we were booked into a brunch buffet at the Science Museum of Minnesota. The prime rib was my favorite followed by the chocolate cake, peach pie and a fantastic carrot cake.
Mother’s Day wasn’t all about food. We did go to the Omni Theater that had a great movie on engineering around the world. We played with the hands on displays and rolled out of there by mid afternoon. One stop at a new ice cream place called Sota for a really good treat.
We left for home by four p.m. and refused to stop at the yellow apple barn.
This is a fine excuse why my lawn is not mowed.

Tired of hearing her teenager complain about everything, the frustrated mother finally reached her boiling point.
“Honey, let me give you some free life advice… Life IS as bad as you think, and yes, they ARE out to get you!”

Have a good week.
