Boys place second
Placing second at day one of the Boys Section Golf Meet were the Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda Coyotes. Murray County Central leads the ten team tournament after day one, finished the first day with a score of 372.
The section golf meet involves two days, May 23 and May 30. The top four teams from the first day of competition advance to day two, along with 25% of the remaining individuals (who are not part of the top four teams).
In addition to MCC and HLOF, Adrian (399) and Westbrook-Walnut Grove (404) teams advance to day two of competition.
Other teams involved in the section tournament were Southwest Christian (405), Wabasso (4100, Hills-Beaver Creek (413), Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (418), Red Rock Central (466) and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (incomplete).
The Coyotes came into the clubhouse with 397 on the day, led by Payton Marquardt, who carded a 93. Cory Renneke finished the 18 holes with a score of 98. Tyler Madison (102), Ben Sheldahl (104), Joe Fischer (105) and Ethan Koep (115) were the remaining Coyotes on the course last Wednesday, May 23, in Worthington. Jack Pierson (MCC) was the medalist on the day, shooting 81.
Day two of the Section Golf Meet will be Wednesday, May 30, also at Worthington. Following day two, only one team advances, along with the top five individuals not on the winning team. These will go to the state golf meet.
Individuals advancing to day two, along with the complete teams from MCC, HLOF, Adrian and WWG, are: Andrew Williams (RTR, 95), Trey Huisken (SWC, 96), Jacob Iverson (Wabasso, 96), Dylan Taubert (HBC, 97), Thomas Dysthe (HBC, 99), Derek Fey (SWC, 100), Marcus Vanderlugt (SWC, 103) and Kody Kuehn (Wabasso, 104).
