HL-O/Fulda Coyote girls advance in Section Golf meet

Girls finish fourth

On day one of the Section Golf Meet, the Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda Coyote girls earned their way to compete on day two.

The section golf meet involves two days, the first on May 23 and the second on May 30. The top four teams from day one advance to day two of competition, along with 25% of the remaining individuals (who are not part of the top four teams).

Murray County Central (400), Hendricks (436), Adrian (444) and HLOF (447) are the teams that will be vying for the one team slot available at the state tournament.

The Coyotes golf team was led by Samantha Freking, who carded 107 on day one of the tournament. Abby Hamman (MCC) led the girls individually, shooting 82 on the day.

With scores of 111 and 112 at the end of day one, Coyotes Tayler Warborg and Lynneigh Vrooman will compete on day two. Lexy Ruesch (117), Meakin Bang (125) and Elly Bang (129) completed the Coyotes team on day one of competition.

Individual golfers advancing to day two of competition are: Brittany Erickson (Westbrook-Walnut Grove, 98), Carlee Baumann (Red Rock Central, 103), Jennifer Schelhaas (Southwest Christian, 110), Tess Van Maanen (Hills-Beaver Creek, 112), Abby Meier (RRC, 113), and Halle Steen (WWG, 113).

There were ten teams competing in the Section Meet, MCC (400), Hendricks (436), Adrian (444), HLOF (447), WWG (462), RRC (497), Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (499), and incomplete teams of HBC, Wabasso and SWC.

Day two of the Section Golf Meet will be Wednesday, May 30, also at Worthington. The winning team and the top five individuals who are not members of the winning team, will advance to the state golf meet, to be held June 12-13 at Bunker Hills Golf Course.
