Senior baseball players Ethan Becker and Jacob Burdick were each chosen by the five opposing coaches in the Red Rock Conference to this year’s All-Conference First Team. Both Becker and Burdick were key all-around contributors to the first-year pairing arrangement of Heron Lake-Okabena and Fulda this past spring.
It was the third consecutive All-Conference baseball selection for Becker, who has been a leading hitter for the varsity since his sophomore season. An all-around athlete, Becker was All-District in football last fall and was a Big South All-Conference hockey player for the Windom Eagles this past winter.
It was Burdick’s first All-Conference honor, as the power-hitting first baseman capped off a fine high school baseball career with an impressive senior year, coming through at the plate with numerous clutch hits for the Coyotes.
“Both Jacob and Ethan had solid all-around seasons for us,” declared Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda head baseball coach Chad Knutson. “Each of them played well in the field, displayed good senior leadership and delivered a lot of timely hits, providing plenty of offensive punch.”
While Burdick did some pitching, he primarily manned first base throughout the season for the Coyotes.
Becker played a variety of positions, including action behind-the-plate as a catcher. He also played frequently in the outfield, saw some duty in the infield and pitched when he was needed.
