Severe storms and flooding a part of the weekend

Severe summer storms were part of the June 23rd and 24th weekend throughout the region. In Lincoln and Murray Counties, tornado warnings were issued and a tornado was seen near Arco. The warning for Murray County included Lake Shetek and the cities of Avoca, Currie, Dovray and Slayton.

In southwest Minnesota, additional rainfall increased the risk of  flash flooding with warnings issued for the West Fork of the Des Moines River near Avoca.

In Iowa, Dickinson County was under a Flash Flood Emergency with multiple reports of stalled or submerged vehicles.

Slayton reported 3.5 inches of rainfall on Sunday.

A flash flood watch was in effect on Monday, until 11 p.m. Central Daylight Time for portions of Iowa, southwest Minnesota, northeast Nebraska and southeast South Dakota, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers and thunderstorms were expected, bringing one to two inches of rainfall Monday night.
