Nancy Lee Dirks, 57 of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 while visiting family in Sioux City, Iowa. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Sunnybrook Community Church, Sioux City, Iowa. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements. Nancy was born on January 20, 1961 in Fulda, Minnesota to Edward and Jeanette (Odenbrett) Wieskus. She graduated with the Class of 1979 from Fulda High School before attending and graduating from the Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1983. Nancy worked at the Sioux Valley Hospital as a nurse before moving to Sioux City, Iowa in the early 1990’s. She married Nathan Dirks on April 2, 1992 in Worthington, Minnesota. Nancy worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City before moving to Lubbock, Texas, where she has been working as a Medical Language Specialist for Medical Technology Solutions of America.
Nancy enjoyed spending time with her dog, children and grandchildren. She loved being outside, drinking coffee swimming, and going to extracurricular events. She found her greatest joy in spoiling her grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Jerika Dirks and her significant other Nate Moriston, daughter Danielle Washburn and her significant other Jaime Castaneda, and son Tim Dirks and his wife Shelley; parents Ed and Jeanette Wieskus of North Mankato, MN; grandchildren Ryan, Lillian, Keegan, Maddrox, Irish, Tanya, and Ruby; siblings Sue (Mark) Sandhurst of Fulda, MN, Ann (Mat) Holinika of Lakeville, MN, Bruce (Deanna) Wieskus of Jasper, MN, Marty Wieskus of Slayton, MN, Patti (Kevin) Becker of Jordan, MN, Jenn (Ryan Hauser) Wenzel of New Prague, MN, Chad (Kyle) Wieskus of New Prague, MN, Brad (Sarah) Wieskus of Prior Lake, MN, and Matt (Nicole) Wieskus of Prior Lake, MN.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Nate Dirks in 2016, brothers Tom and Dan Wieskus, grandparents Frank and Julia Wieskus and William and Agnes Odenbrett, along with her Father-in-law Lawrence Dirks.
Nancy had a heart of gold, had compassion for everyone, and never expected anything in return.
