Nobles County Fair begins today, Wednesday, August 1st, and goes through Sunday, August 5th. Those dates have been on Kahleigh Dawson’s mind for quite a while as she planned the many items she is showing at the fair; and she is very excited to be doing so.
Dawson is a first year member of the Graham Lake Braves 4-H Club. She lives with her aunt and uncle, Lorie and Doug White, near Fulda. She will be a sophomore this year.
When asked during an interview on Sunday, July 22nd, what 4-H categories Dawson had chosen for her projects, her Aunt Lorie consulted a list and shared, “Rabbit – Mini Rex Buck Senior; Egg Production; Dog Education; Clothing and Textiles – non garment; Indoor Gardening; Outdoor Gardening; Crafts and Fine Arts; and Shop!”
Dawson, who had listened intently, smiled as her aunt came to the end of the list and said, “I’m still working on some of them. We are building the Shop project now. It’s a two-rabbit hutch that will have a door between in case I want to breed the rabbits. There will also be an enclosed little hiding place for each of them so that they can hide away, if they want to. I’m going to paint the hutch green.”
