Village of Fulda hires another policeman – Ronald Reicharts of Forest City, Iowa. With the addition of Officer Reicherts, Fulda will have 2 full time officers.

Fulda Council members voted to postpone the swimming pool project last Monday – one reason  was the high bids from the contractors  who have an abundance of work and are bidding with high profits. The earliest construction could start would be next spring with completion the summer of 1975.

Carl Hennager attended the National Science Foundation Institute at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The four week institute for teachers of agriculture and science was part of a four year sequence.

The Fulda Reading Club presented a Minnesota State Flag to the Fulda Public Library on August 3rd.

Mary Wolf and Gerald Menk announce their engagement. A July wedding is being planned.

Pals Cafe open Sunday with Roast Beef and Swiss Steak.

Wednesday, August 10, 1988

Fred and Diane Zemler take over the Fulda Cafe formerly known as Pat’s Cafe on August 1st. Helping with the cooking duties are Betty Dierks and Nellie Pals as well as Diane’s son Brandon.

Athletic Director Hank Lenards is taking donations to purchase new score boards for the Fulda High School gym.

Fall tillage practices and the severe drought could make conditions ripe for another dust bowl…farmers are urged NOT to plow.

The rains finally came! and so did the lightning. Damage included a fire which destroyed the barn on the Daryl Schneider farm, a strike at the Credit Union knocking out the data processing box, and a strike in the trees in the Doug Sturm yard.

Perry ‘Butch’ Kuehl earns his black belt in karate after four years of instruction from Brian Koopman.

First Dollar of Profit presented to Reneé Baerenwald of Mane Attraction and Coleen Bui of Neat Top Beauty Shop.

After a week long rain which drenched Fulda streets and surrounding areas the sunshine which finally appeared late Sunday evening was very much enjoyed by Adam Welling, 6, Jamie Welling, 10, and Christine Wieskus, 7.

Rain delays the street project – sets work schedule back 5 days and it will be slow going until the trenches dry out.

Deb and Jerry Langford are among the 200,000 bikers and trikers who roll to Sturgis, a town of 6000, for their ma and pa vacation each year.

Smiths married June 6th – Kari Smith and Rex Smith united in marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Kevin Connolly officiating.

Jamie Heidebrink and Devon Bruns announce their engagement. An August 15th wedding is planned.

Clarence Dierks will be celebrating his 80th birthday with an open house on August 15th at the Fulda City Hall.

Nelson Ragan passed away on August 9th at the age of 74 years old.

William Lentz ‘Junior’ passed away August 9th at the age of 78 years old.

Edrica Bethea passed away at the age of 89 years old on August 2nd.

Eldo Kalass passed away at the age of 82 years old on August 7th.

The Fulda American Legion Post 318 recently donated funds to purchase a pitching machine for use in the boys summer baseball and girls softball programs.
