Over six hundred donated hay lift bales were collected in Fulda on Friday. The bales are bound for drought stricken farmers in central Minnesota. The farmers donating bales were Harry Bekx, Wally Schultz, Orrin Clarke, Steve Clarke, Les Overman, Gerry Meier, John Meyer and Duane Paplow. The local project was organized by Representative Ted Winter. The Hay Lift across Minnesota was coordinated by Commissioner of Agriculture Jim Nichols and his staff.
Adoption is really a special process – just ask Margene and Mike Vortherms who recently adopted a son.
The Fulda Public School Board of Education makes preparations for the new school year.
New teachers installed at St. Paul’s Lutheran School: Miss ReNae Kaelberer in primary grades and Miss Mary Bakke in upper grades.
The State Fair is celebrating volunteer day with the theme “Volunteers Move Minnesota”.

At age 82, Agnes Herrig continues to demonstrate her bread making skills at the Murray County Fair. This year she shared her Wheat Herb Bread.
Ann Gehl wins ribbons in the open class Tatting division at the Murray County Fair. At age 92 Ann continues to create beautiful handkerchiefs with tatting around the edges for gifts for her children and grandchildren.
Alliant™ Utilities-Interstate Power Company announced today that it will discontinue walk-in service at its commercial office in Fulda as of January 15, 1999. The company will continue to supply customers with reliable service and better energy value for their dollars.
Larson Crane crewmen continue to work on the St. Paul Street project as they diligently hook up business to the new water main before the system can be switched over.

Mary Ann Greenfield, 62, passed away at her home on August 16th.
Magdalena Fischer Bixenman passed away on August 22nd at the age of 93 years old.
Approximately 200 farmers and concerned citizens were on hand at a meeting held Tuesday morning by Representative Ted Winter and Senator Paul Wellstone in regards to farm crisis situation and ag pricing. Also attending were Senator David Minge, Senator Roger Moe, and Dave Fredrickson, State President of the MN Farmers Union.
