Coyotes rally, nip Jaguars in overtime thriller, 48-42 Fest hits Hinkeldey with game-winning TD pass

In a high school football game with lots of offense by both teams, Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda prevailed with a thrilling 48-42 victory over Renville County West in HL-O’s Homecoming Game at Heron Lake’s Memorial Field Friday evening, September 21.

After being stopped short on a strong late-game drive, the Coyotes scored the game-winner on their first offensive series of the overtime on a six-yard touchdown pass from Eli Fest to Brandon Hinkeldey, sending off a jubilant post-game celebration by the victors, who had rallied several times throughout the evenly-played contest.

HL-O / F improved to 2-2 on the season with the victory, while RCW — which represents the Highway 212 communities of Danube, Renville and Sacred Heart — is now 1-3.

The Jaguars, however, certainly battled the Coyotes strong for 48 minutes Friday before coughing up the football on its first offensive play of the overtime. The mishandled ball was recovered by Hinkeldey as HL-O / F’s defense stopped RCW cold.
