One County, One Book 2018 Event; Dark Side of the Loon – Where History Meets Mystery

Dark Side of the Loon: Where History Meets Mystery is the book that will be discussed at the One County, One Book 2018 event to be held at Murray County Central High School, Slayton, on Saturday October 20, 1 to 4 p.m.

The book is a collection of stories by Lori L. Lake, Marlene Chabot, Michael Allan Mallory, Carol Huss, Marcia Adair, Natalie Fowler, Barbara Merritt Deese, A. W. Powers, Cheryl Lewis, Christine Husom, Cheryl Ullyot, Karl W. Jorgenson, Marcie Rendon, Sherry Roberts, Midge bubany, M. E. bakos, Greg Dahlager, T. S. Owen and Judy Kerr.

Stories within the book cast a long shadow over “Minnesota nice” as dark emotions and even darker thoughts seep from their murky depths.

Six of the authors, including Barbara Merritt Deese, Timya Owen, A. W. Powers, Midge Bubany, Greg Dahlager, and Christine Husom, will be holding a meet and greet, panel discussion and  book signing during the October 20th event.  From 1 to 2 p.m. and again from 3 to 4 p.m., will be a meet and greet with the authors as well as book sales and signing.

At 2 p.m. until 3 p.m., there will be a panel discussion during which the authors will talk about how historical events have inspired their writing, the challenges of researching Minnesota’s past, and how they walk a fine line between mystery and history when writing ‘Mystorical Minnesota’.
