Thursday, October 25, 1973

The legislature of the State of Minnesota enacted Chapter No. 676 of the Minnesota Statues relating to elections. Effective July 1, 1973, all voters are required to complete a Voters Registration Card prior to voting in an election. These registrations cards will become a permanent file maintained by the office of the county auditor.

Garbage pick up by Albrecht Sanitation Service will begin Thursday. The Village dump will close after October 31st.

E. O. Reusse retires from the Board of Directors of Maple Lawn Nursing Home. Mr. Reusse was one of the charter members of the board in 1961 when Maple Lawn was still just a dream in the minds of a few progressive people. Fritz volunteered to serve on the finance committee.

After teaching wood working for years in schools, Carl Hennager is at home, on his farm, running his saw mill. “It’s not a hobby,” he says, “it’s my business.”

Volunteers plowed close to 200 acres for the Bob Fenske family last Tuesday. Mr. Fenske passed away unexpectedly October 6th.

The Fulda Public School Board of Education is looking to expand it’s volunteer program. Anyone wishing to act a volunteer is asked to speak with Mr. Wandersee.

Emory Beckman grows some giant carrots weighing up to three pounds each.

Howard and Virginia Anderson will be  observing their 25th wedding anniversary on Saturday from 2p.m. to 4p.m. at the Fulda City Hall.

A baby girl was born to Jerry and Darc Reker on October 18th. Grandparents include Dorothy Reker, Ray Reker, and Leonard and Irene Hanson.

Remember to Vote November 3rd. Candidates for Mayor are John Maertens and Mary Magnus. Candidates for City Council are Ken Clarke, Dave Thiner and Jan Wehking.

Running for the Murray County Auditor position are Gary Spaeth and William Wilke.

Several amendments will also appear on the ballot including the extended use of the lottery for environmental trust fun, the preservation of hunting and fishing heritage, and the abolishment of the treasures office in the year 2003.

The residents of Fulda, those with a 425 telephone exchange, are being asked to complete a survey if they are interested in extending their local telephone coverage area.

The FFA Poultry team of Dustin Runkle, Mat Kremer, Matt Witzel and Cody Bell and the FFA Forestry team of Justin Sieve, Eric Paulzine and Cory Paulzine will advance to state competition to be held in April.

Candace Hup and Adam Boerema were married at the American Reformed Church in Worthington on July 24th with Reverend Frank Boerema officiating. The couple plan to make their home in Orange City, Iowa.

Greg and Steffany Heppler are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Courtney, born October 14th. Grandparents include Howard and Virginia Anderson, Harris and Doris McDonough and Mr. & Mrs. Robert Heppler.

Mary Hogan is honored as Resident of the Month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.
